Surunmaa is a band from Pajala and Göteborg playing Finnish barroom blues & old hillbilly folksongs with some tango to boot. The gig is part of their debut album release tour, that is coming from Sweden, Lapland, and will eventually end to Estonia.

Surunmaa was founded in 2006 and since then has toured actively around Scandinavia and played at big Folk music festival and at smallest pubs. Their music has been played at radios around the world and in 2008 Surunmaa was the representative of Meänkieli at Liet Lavlu minority song contest and won the prize of audience's favourite.

In the music you can mixture of several influences like folk, blues and old Finnish tango. Most of the songs are in English, but for the Finnish part of the tour, singer Viktor Fors Mäntyranta has promised to add some special Meänkieli songs. Imagine Hank Williams, Tom Waits and Tapio Rautavaara meeting at the nightless night of the Tornio river valley. Truly popularmusic from Vittula.
